Labour Market Impact Assessment i.e. LMIA is a labour market verification process in which the Department of Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) assesses an employment offer. This is done to make sure if the employment of a foreign worker for a job will impact the Canadian labour market in a negative way.
Employers who want to hire a foreign worker must provide a valid detail about the position they want to hire, number of Canadians who applied for the position, candidates who were interviewed, and the reason why they were not hired.
